1. What Sensilob-0.5 is and what it is used for?
Sensilob-0.5 contains lobeglitazone, a medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.
It works by:
- Improving the body’s sensitivity to insulin
- Helping the body use glucose more effectively
- Lowering blood sugar levels
It is used in adults:
- As monotherapy when diet and exercise alone are not sufficient and metformin cannot be used
- In combination with other anti-diabetic medicines when blood sugar is not adequately controlled
2. What you need to know before you take Sensilob-0.5?
Do not take Sensilob-0.5 if you:
- are allergic to lobeglitazone or any ingredients
- have heart failure or history of heart failure
- have liver disease
- have severe kidney impairment
- have type 1 diabetes, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma or pre-coma
- have severe infections, trauma, or are undergoing major surgery
- have rare hereditary problems of lactose intolerance
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you:
- have a history of heart problems
- have liver abnormalities
- have swelling (edema) or unexplained weight gain
- are a premenopausal woman
Important precautions:
- This medicine may cause or worsen heart failure
- Watch for symptoms such as:
- swelling of legs
- sudden weight gain
- shortness of breath
- Regular monitoring is required:
- Blood sugar (FPG, HbA1c)
- Liver function tests
Special precautions

- yellowing of skin/eyes
Children

Other medicines and Sensilob-0.5
Tell your doctor if you are taking:
- antidiabetic medicines (e.g., metformin, insulin, sulfonylureas)
- medicines like fluconazole, amiodarone, quinidine, paroxetine (may increase drug levels)
- ketoconazole (may increase exposure)
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
- Not recommended during pregnancy
- Should not be used during breastfeeding
Driving and using machines
- May cause visual disturbances or dizziness
- Be cautious while driving
3. How to take Sensilob-0.5?
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
Recommended dose:
- One tablet (0.5 mg) once daily
How to take:
- Take orally with or without food
- Take at the same time each day
If you take more than you should
- Contact your doctor immediately
- Supportive treatment will be given
If you forget a dose
- Do not take a double dose
- Take the next dose as scheduled
If you stop taking Sensilob-0.5
- Do not stop without consulting your doctor
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects.
Common side effects:
- Swelling (edema)
- Weight gain
- Upper respiratory infections (cold, cough)
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Joint or muscle pain
Less common side effects:
- Increased liver enzymes
- Fatty liver
- Anemia
- Increased blood pressure
- Skin itching
Serious side effects (seek medical help immediately):
- Signs of heart failure (breathlessness, swelling, rapid weight gain)
- Liver problems (yellowing of skin, dark urine)
- Vision changes
- Severe allergic reactions
Other possible effects:
- Increased risk of fractures (especially in women)
- Ovulation in premenopausal women (may increase pregnancy risk)
