1. What Aerolys-NTM is and what it is used for

Aerolys-NTM contains acebrophylline and acetylcysteine.

This medicine is used to treat respiratory conditions such as:

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Emphysema, mucoviscidoses.

It works by:

  • Opening the airways (bronchodilator effect)
  • Reducing inflammation
  • Thinning and loosening mucus, making it easier to cough out

2. What you need to know before you take Aerolys-NTM

Do not take Aerolys-NTM if:

  • You are allergic to acebrophylline, acetylcysteine, theophylline, ambroxol, or similar medicines
  • You have severe liver or kidney disease
  • You have had a recent heart attack
  • You have severe low blood pressure or heart rhythm problems

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have:

  • Heart disease or high blood pressure
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Liver or kidney problems
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Seizure disorders
  • Asthma (risk of bronchospasm)

Important:

  • Stop the medicine and seek medical help if you develop skin rash, blistering, or breathing difficulty
  • Increased mucus production may occur at the start of treatment

Other medicines and Aerolys-N TM

Tell your doctor if you are taking:

  • Antibiotics (take them at least 2 hours apart)
  • Steroids or diuretics
  • Theophylline or bronchodilators
  • Cough suppressants (should not be used together)
  • Nitroglycerin

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • Pregnancy: Not recommended
  • Breastfeeding: Not recommended

    • Ask your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Driving and using machines

    This medicine is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines.

    3. How to take Aerolys-NTM

    Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.

    Recommended dose

    • Adults: One tablet twice daily

    How to take

    • Swallow whole with water
    • Do not crush or chew
    • Preferably take after food

    If you take more than you should

    You may experience:

    • Nausea, vomiting
    • Fast heart rate
    • Restlessness or seizures

    Contact your doctor immediately.

    If you forget to take a dose

    • Take it as soon as you remember
    • Do not take a double dose

    4. Possible side effects

    Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects.

    Common side effects

    • Nausea, vomiting
    • Stomach discomfort
    • Diarrhea or constipation
    • Headache
    • Dizziness

    Uncommon/Rare side effects

    • Fast heart rate
    • Skin rash or itching
    • Difficulty breathing
    • High blood pressure
    • Insomnia

    Serious side effects (seek immediate medical help)

    • Severe allergic reactions
    • Skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
    • Chest pain or severe breathing difficulty

    5. How to store Aerolys-N TM

    • Keep out of sight and reach of children
    • Store below 30°C
    • Protect from light and moisture
    • Do not use after the expiry date
